Where is La Herencia de Casares Located?
La Herencia de Casares is located in the Doña Julia Golf resort, which, lies within the municipality of Casares. Casares is in the province of Malaga. It is very well positioned for international travellers. Casares is close to two international airports. Malaga Airport is only an hour away and Gibraltar airport is just 30 minutes. Casares has a direct connection to the motorway (AP-7) making the journey to and from the airports very easy.
In addition to the airports, Casares is only 20 minutes from Marbella and Puerto Banus. For those looking for something closer, the town and Marina of Estepona are only a 15-minute drive away. Puerto de La Duquesa is also only 10 minutes away.
The stunning Casares beaches are located just 4kms away from La Herencia de Casares.

It takes about 9 minutes by car to get to this beautiful coast from La Herencia. However, if you wanted to walk, it would take you around an hour. La Herencia de Casares lies in an elevated position, so it is a pleasant stroll down but might be a harder walk back. Although, there is a very good local taxi service.
The town centre of San Luis de Sabinillas is located 6.5km from La Herencia de Casares. This is an 8 minute drive, a 30-minute cycle ride or an hour and a quarter walk. Alternatively, you could drive down the hill and leave the car at the bottom of Doña Julia – you can then walk into Sabinillas from there. This would take you around 25 minutes. If you walk 2 minutes in the opposite direction (towards Estepona), there is a pedestrian footbridge that links Bahia de Casares to Casares Beach. From here you can walk along the promenade all the way into Sabinillas.
For a taste of “real Spain” the village of Casares is a 20 minute drive away from La Herencia. Casares is a typical whitewashed village. Going to Casares transports you to the old, traditional, Spain. There are narrow cobbled streets and a lovely little plaza with some independent cafés and restaurants. Some of these cafés serve delicious ‘churros con chocolate’. One of the things I love to do in Casares is sit down with a good book, drink a cup of coffee and watch the world go by. Time seems to stand still here, no one is in a rush. Turn up around 15:00/16:00 in the afternoon and you can feel that sleepy, siesta feeling. It is great for unwinding.
Casares village has a totally different atmosphere from the coast. Furthermore, a must-see in Casares is the cheese factory. There is a family-run cheese farm. Either visit their local shop and buy their delicious, fresh produce or organise a tour. Find out more about Sierra Crestellina here.
Venta la Choza can be found at the entrance to Doña Julia. It is just a 5-minute drive away from La Herencia de Casares. Venta la Choza has been established in the area for over 25 years. It is ranked number five on TripAdvisor for restaurants in Casares. It is a bit like a “Tardis” – it looks quite small from the outside but opens up to reveal three large dining areas. Venta la Choza has an extensive menu with lots of different dishes. You can enjoy a light lunch or a three-course dinner. Moreover, if you just want a drink, there is a pleasant bar area and outside terrace.
The Clubhouse at Doña Julia Golf club is located just up from La Choza. It is open to the public and serves refreshments and snacks.
La Sal Chiringuito is about a 10-minute drive away. It is possibly one of the best chiringuitos (beach restaurants) in the area. However, as a result, it is very popular and we recommend that you book in advance.

The Casares road is known for its gastronomy. There are so many ventas leading up the road to Casares village. Restaurants like El Mirador de Casares offer delicious food, fabulous views and are ideal for a family Sunday lunch. Supermarkets and Shopping
Lidl in Sabinillas is the nearest supermarket. It will take you 8 minutes in the car from La Herencia. It has a large car park and has a large range of products – you can even buy English bacon and cheddar cheese! There is a Supersol and Mercadona in Sabinillas. Both have customer parking. Additionally, there is another branch called Mercadona which is 11 minutes away in the other direction, again with plenty of customer parking. Moreover, Carrefour in Estepona is 20 minutes away. This is a large hypermarket and sells a whole range is goods as well as food and groceries. Alternatively, Mercadona and Carrefour both offer an excellent online shopping service.
For basic necessities, there is a small shop at the petrol station in Bahia de Casares (10-minute drive).
Sabinillas town centre provides most amenities including several banks, chemists, post office, hairdressers, furniture shops, hardware shops and clothes shops. There is also a weekly market every Friday.
Additionally, Sabinillas has a local sports centre with tennis courts, padel tennis courts, an indoor swimming pool, gym and many fitness classes are run from here. They offer a large number of activities including karate, aerobics and kick boxing.
Schools in and around the Area
There are several Spanish state schools, Spanish private schools and International schools in the area. The primary state school for Casares is the “Blas Infante” school located in Casares village. However, there is no state secondary school in Casares. As a result, secondary age pupils attend the Las Viñas Secondary school in Manilva.
Casares medical centre is located in Casares village. Notwithstanding, many residents of Doña Julia are registered at the Sabinillas medical centre because it is nearer. It is just 8 minutes away by car from La Herencia de Casares. In addition, there are also several private clinics and hospitals in the area.
Golf Courses near to La Herencia de Casares.
La Herencia de Casares is perfect for anyone who loves golf. You are literally spoilt for choice! The urbanisation is located directly within the Doña Julia Golf resort. Doña Julia golf course is an 18-hole course built along the hillside. Get to the top and you are rewarded with amazing views over the Mediterranean.
Additionally, Casares Golf is a 9 hole golf course and only about 10 minutes away. Moreover, the renowned 6-star Finca Cortesin Golf Club and Resort is also located up the Casares road and a mere 10 minute drive away. As well as the clubs in the immediate Casares area, there are some world-renowned golf courses, like Valderrama in Sotogrande, within close proximity.
Key information about La Herencia de Casares
La Herencia de Casares is a luxury development consisting of just 54 apartments. It was constructed in 2008. The development is built across 12 blocks. The beauty of this development is that there are only 5 apartments in each block, (apart from blocks 10-12 where there are only 3 apartments in the block). Therefore, each lift and garage services those 5 (or 3) apartments, making it private and exclusive. La Herencia de Casares is made up of 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and 3 bedroom penthouses. All apartments have huge terraces. In fact, most have almost as much outside space and inside space! Additionally, all the apartments come with private parking in the garage and a storeroom.

There are 4 floors per block. The blocks are built along the hillside. For this reason, the floor numbers are -2,-1, 0 and 1. There is only one apartment per floor, apart from level 0 where there are 2 apartments.
There are four different apartment types within La Herencia de Casares.
Type A -3 bedroom garden apartments situated on the second lower ground floor (-2). These apartments have a 50m2 terrace and a 130m2 private garden. However, there is the option to put in your own private pool.
Type B – Large (118m2) 2 bedroom apartments located on the lower ground floor (-1). These apartments have a large master bedroom including a dressing room and large en-suite with Jacuzzi bath and walk-in shower. The terrace is 116m2.
Type C & D -2 bedroom apartments on the ground floor (0). These apartments have a nice distribution and a 51m2 terrace.
Type E – 3 bedroom penthouse apartments situated on the first floor. These apartments are very spacious (123m2) with an additional 54m2 terrace. There is a separate security gate to enter the front terrace and the lift opens inside this gate so you have your own private lift access. The highlight of La Herencia de Casares is the stunning infinity swimming pool. It is a 25m pool – great for doing lengths! In addition, you can soak up the amazing views across the Mediterranean sea whilst lazing on your sun lounger.
Moreover, there is an air-conditioned gym with several different types of exercise equipment. As an added luxury, there is a Turkish bath just off the gym.

La Herencia de Casares is a fully enclosed gated community. The development has 24-hour security. Also, the entrance has an electronic gate. This is opened via a keycode or via a keyfob issued to the residents. However, the keycode is changed on a regular basis for additional security. In addition, there are also security cameras installed at the entrance.
Maintenance Costs on La Herencia de Casares
Maintenance costs will vary according to your apartment type and terrace size.
Owners must pay the community fees on a quarterly basis. These fees cover the costs of maintenance and day to day upkeep. La Herencia de Casares is part of the Doña Julia resort complex. As a result of this, there is a Macro community that covers the maintenance of the Doña Julia area as a whole. This would include the main road and pavements and street lighting. In addition to the standard community fees, Macro community fees are payable per apartment.
