A Complete List of Chiringuitos on the Costa del Sol (Sotogrande – Estepona)

The Ultimate Chiringuito Guide: Sotogrande to Estepona (2026 Edition)

There’s nothing quite like a chiringuito on the Costa del Sol.

Salt in the air, a cold drink in hand, and the sound of sardines grilling over open fire – it’s one of the reasons so many of our clients fall in love with this area.

Over the years, we’ve spent a lot of time exploring them (strictly for research purposes of course), and these are the places we genuinely go back to, whether it’s after a morning of viewings or just a long, lazy family lunch by the sea.

Delicious Spanish style chiringuito food

To make it easy, we’ve organised everything by vibe and by area, so you can quickly find your perfect spot.

A Quick Note on Opening Times

Many chiringuitos along this stretch of coast are seasonal.

Most begin to open from March or April (around Easter) and typically run through to the end of September or October, depending on the weather and demand.

Outside of these months, you’ll find fewer places open, but there are still some great year-round options if you know where to go.

If you’re visiting out of season, it’s always worth checking ahead or booking to avoid disappointment.

If You Only Have Time for a Few

There are plenty of chiringuitos along this stretch of coast, but these are the ones we return to, again and again.

  • La Sal (Casares) – our local, and at sunset, exactly where we want to be
  • El Madero (Estepona) – easy, relaxed, and effortlessly good
  • Ramos (Sabinillas) – lively, authentic, and always full of atmosphere
  • Trocadero Sotogrande –for a full day out by the sea – beach club luxury
  • Manilva Beach – simple, rustic, and feet firmly in the sand

Find Your Perfect Chiringuito (By Vibe)

Not all chiringuitos are the same, and honestly, where you go often depends on the kind of day you want.

Chringuito La Sal

 Best for Long, Lazy Lunches

  • El Madero (Estepona)
One of our go-to spots – relaxed, consistent, and right on the sand.
  • Bahía Beach (Casares)
Easy, reliable, and perfect for a proper, unhurried lunch.
  • Cubanga (Manilva)
Slightly more modern but still very laid-back.

👉 Top tip: If you want to be in the heart of the atmosphere, arrive around 14:30–15:00 and let the afternoon unfold.  If you prefer a quieter lunch, book for 13:00- 13:30. Always book at the height of season to avoid disappointment.

 Best for Sunset Drinks

  • Trocadero, Sotogrande
A beautiful setting with a more refined feel, perfect for golden hour.
  • Chambao (Sotogrande)
Lively, social, and great energy later in the day.
  • Malva Beach (Estepona)
Stylish, modern, and ideal for a sunset drink by the sea.

 Best Traditional Chiringuitos

  • Eulogia (Torreguadiaro)
    Traditional and very authentic.
  • África Beach (Estepona)
Classic chiringuito feel with great seafood.
  • La Sal (Casares)
Our family favourite and local go-to – great food, a beautiful beach, and one of those places where you can sit back, relax, and watch the sun go down without ever wanting to leave.

If you see espetos on the grill, you’re in the right place.

 Best for Families

  • Manilva Beach
A real family favourite, quite rustic, feet in the sand, and exactly the kind of place where everyone can relax.  Perfect for long lunches on a lovely stretch of beach which is not busy
  • Marina Playa (Casares)
A great all-rounder, especially for groups.

Easy, reliable, and always a safe choice with family. Also have great pasta options- they do a great Carbonara!

 Best for Atmosphere & Music

  • Chambao (Sotogrande)
Music, cocktails, and a fun crowd. Very trendy and lots of fun.  It turns into a nightclub at the height of the season after dinner.

Lively and social — great energy throughout the day.
  • Bunker Beach Club (Sotogrande)
A slightly more elevated, beach club-style experience. Great to have drinks and look at the view.

Elegant and refined – just perfect for a special day. More of a beach club experience, with beautiful pools, spacious sunbeds, and a stunning setting overlooking the sea. Ideal when you’re looking for something a little more elevated.

Restaurante Bahia Beach  (Casares)

A very relaxed vibe with stunning views over the beach.  Great to stop for a drink if taking a walk along the promenade.  It is also fabulous if you are looking for pasta dishes – especially good if you have kids who don’t like seafood and who prefer something different.  It allows you to be adventurous and try everything ( still has great local dishes), whilst also being able to cater for others.

Our local and a firm family favourite. Great food, a beautiful little cove, and easily one of our favourite beaches. It’s nearly always busy, so definitely book ahead; however, once you’re there, it’s the kind of place you won’t want to leave.

The views are just spectacular. After lunch, take a stroll along the promenade (which is also wheelchair friendly), or head down to the beach for a swim – it often has lovely sandbanks.

Chiringuitos in Manilva/Duquesa/SabinillasManilva Beach

Some of the most authentic chiringuitos along the coast and some of our favourites in the area.

Ramos

Another of our family favourites. We’ve been coming here for years. We have had big family gatherings here.  It used to be more of a simple shack on the beach, and while it’s now been beautifully modernised, it hasn’t lost its charm. You can still sit with your feet in the sand, and the food is consistently excellent.

A slightly more contemporary feel, while still holding onto that relaxed beachfront charm.  From time to time they have live music and it becomes a very popular spot.  Very popular with our close friends.

Manilva Beach

A real family favourite, Manilva Beach is quite rustic, feet in the sand, and exactly the kind of place where everyone can relax. Perfect for long, unhurried lunches on a lovely stretch of beach that always feels calm and uncrowded.  Delicious fresh food and just beautiful clean air.  If you have a young family, the beach is large and spacious and they can play in the sand whilst you sip your coffee after a long meal.  Our girls used to love running around and doing cartwheels on this very beach.

Chiringuitos in Sotogrande and Torreguadiaro

Sotogrande

A great mix of relaxed beachfront spots and more refined venues, and one of the areas we often explore with clients.

 Il Sono

Set on a quieter stretch of coastline, Il Soño is one of those places we love when we want to slow things down. With uninterrupted sea views and a more natural, unspoilt setting, it’s perfect for a long, relaxed afternoon away from the busier spots.

Chambao Sotogrande Beach Bar Club

A great spot with a more lively, social feel. Spend the day on a sunbed with a cocktail in hand, enjoying good food and an easy atmosphere by the sea. In high season, it comes alive in the evenings, often turning into a beachside nightclub.

Set right between the beach and the marina, Gigi’s Beach has a slightly more polished feel while still keeping things relaxed. It’s one of those places you can spend the whole day — starting with lunch and ending with sunset drinks. With great views, good food, and a laid-back atmosphere (often with live music), it’s an easy one to return to.

A more polished take on the chiringuito experience – refined, but still relaxed. A great place to do go for a drink.  When family come to stay, this is often where we spend a day out. With beautiful pools, a great stretch of beach, and food served straight to your sunbed, it’s a great day out and an easy place to settle in for hours. A fabulous beach club. Good for a special occasion.

Tucked away in a more natural, unspoilt setting, Bunker Beach Club feels a little more off the beaten track. With open stretches of beach, great views, and a relaxed atmosphere, it’s a lovely spot to spend a slower afternoon by the sea.  A truly popular choice amongst our friends.

Chiringuitos in Estepona

Estepona’s coastline has a lovely mix of wide, open beaches and smaller, more sheltered bays, each with its own feel.

Along the main promenade, you’ll find long stretches of sand with plenty of chiringuitos, making it easy to spend the whole day by the sea without needing to move far. It’s lively, well kept, and perfect if you like having everything within easy reach.

A classic chiringuito, simple, authentic, and all about good food.  Lovely for evening meals too. There is a great selection of options on the menu.  After dinner, take a lovely stroll along the Estepona promenade.

El Madero

This one was recommended to us by clients and now one of the places we recommend to anyone looking for a Chiringuito in the heart of Estepona.  The menu is slightly different from the average chiringuito and they offer some fusion dishes, so if you like to try new dishes – this is the place for you.  There are also many traditional options for the less adventurous! The location, beach and views are all amazing.

Our Insider Tips

  • Book ahead in summer especially on a Sunday
  • In the height of season, evenings can be very pleasant and the moon can be just as captivating as blue skies and the sun.
  • Go around 13:00 if you want it to be quieter and empty or 15:00 for the best atmosphere. Late lunches go on to dusk.
  • Ask for front-line tables
  • Don’t rush, this is part of the lifestyle
  • Pre-order paella as it sometimes takes longer to make
  • Take your swimming costume – really nice to have a dip either prior to lunch or grab some sun beds after and have a siesta in the sun

 A Final Thought

Many of these are the exact places we take clients during viewings.

Because choosing where to live here isn’t just about the property, it’s about the lifestyle around you.

And honestly… a good chiringuito is a big part of that.
