Day Trip to Gibraltar from Casares & Manilva

From the areas of Casares, Manilva and Sotogrande, Gibraltar is the perfect location for a day out. Only a half an hour drive from Casares (and even shorter the further west you are!), Gibraltar is an ideal place if you fancy a change of scenery.

When heading to Gibraltar, don’t forget to take your passport with you – otherwise you won’t be allowed in! You can cross into Gibraltar either by car or on foot, either way, the process is the same. You show your passport at the crossing. It will not be stamped, only looked at and then you are in Gibraltar!

A warning: there is no fee to enter Gibraltar. If anyone stops you and says you have to pay a fee, it is a scam. Do NOT pay them and tell the guards when you get to the border control.

One of the coolest parts of entering Gibraltar is that to get into the city you have to cross over the runway! The pedestrian and car paths will close throughout the day to let air planes take off and land. It is a very unique experience!

In Gibraltar, the national currency used is the Pound. However, if you are coming from mainland Spain and only have Euros, don’t worry. The majority of shops, restaurants and attractions will accept Euros.
