Debbie’s Lockdown diary – Wednesday 22nd April – Lets Dance!

OK- So Lockdown extension agreed until 9th May. The president is hopeful that he can start to slightly relax measures after this date – just to be able to go for a walk would be absolute bliss. I think it will still be a while before we get back to normal – although I think our lives will change in many ways and we will have a new “normal”.

Having hurt my back the last time I did some exercise, I was wary about starting again but I have been eating lots of “naughty” stuff in the last few weeks (Is anyone else constantly hungry at the moment?). I had signed up to the Davina “own your goals” programme for a 30 day free trail but hadn’t really used it. My friend, who had signed up for the same programme told me she had done a dance workout on it. I liked the sound of that rather than “proper exercises” so I checked it out and found several dance workouts of varying intensity. I tried a medium intensity one. Have to say it wasn’t as hard as I had thought it would be and I actually rather enjoyed it! Having said that my coordination was all over the place!! My legs were going one way, my arms were going the other but neither were doing what the dance teacher as doing on the screen!:) Oh well, my theory is any exercise is better than no exercise so I wasn’t going to worry about it! I’m going to try to do a dance workout every day!

Yesterday, around 6pm, I heard sirens. We normally hear sirens around 8pm following the daily clap for the key workers, however, this was earlier and sounded very near. I went out onto my balcony and saw a protection Civil car drive up our road. It turns out that it was one of our neighbour’s daughter’s birthday and they had come to sing “Happy Birthday” to her. How lovely!!

My daughter sent me a picture of her new “hobby” to pass the time – Origami – Harry Potter themed of course. Even though she’s in her 20’s she is absolutely obsessed with Harry Potter – and has been since the age of 11. I’ve lost count of how many times she has read the books and seen the films. I’m sure she could recite the films work for word!! Here’s her creations so far
