With there being so many, it would be difficult to write a review on every single one. Therefore, this article will focus on those located between Alcaidesa and Estepona. Keep reading to discover more about the golf courses on the Costa del Sol.
Alcaidesa
Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort
The first resort on our guide is the beautiful Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort. The resort offers two magnificent courses: Alcaidesa Links and Alcaidesa Heathland. This results in a total of 36 professional holes with stunning views of the Mediterranean sea. Moreover, on a clear day, there are incredible views right across to Gibraltar and North Africa.
Alcaidesa Links
Alcaidesa Links is the only links golf course in Southern Europe. Designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark in 1992, this course is formed by gentle slopes descending towards the sea. The course finishes at a beautiful beach and most of the holes are alongside the beach. Additionally, this course is quite impressive due to its spectacular views of Gibraltar and Africa.
- Holes: 18
- Par: 72
- Total distance: 5886m
Alcaidesa Heathland
Alcaidesa Heathland is a beautiful course designed by the former Ryder Cup player, Dave Thomas. The course is much like a heathland, hence the name, with wide fairways and stunning sea views. However, it is varied as the holes are located along the valley meaning that there are numerous water hazards.
- Holes: 18
- Par: 72
- Total distance: 6373m
The Alcaidesa Club House
The Alcaidesa Club House is located between the two golf courses and offers views of the Mediterranean Sea. The building is of a classic Andalucian style and is a perfect blend of traditional and modern. The large venue is home to both a restaurant and a coffee shop which offers an extensive selection of culinary styles. The venue is often used for events such as wedding receptions, parties and banquets. Check it out here.

Sotogrande
Sotogrande is considered one of the main luxury residential areas of Andalucia – and even of Europe. With its beautiful port and the air of elegance which accompanies the area as a whole, it of course comes as no surprise that the golf courses here are some of the best in the world.
Real Club Valderrama
The Real Club Valderrama is the most luxurious course to be included in this guide. The course was home to the 1997 Ryder Cup and is consistently ranked among the best courses in the WORLD. Moreover, it holds the title of the number 1 course in continental Europe since 1988. As you can imagine, this beautiful course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., is of top quality. It is a truly beautiful course and I even would recommend non-golfers to visit if they get a chance.
Even though Valderrama is a highly exclusive course, visitors are welcome. Valderrama brands itself as a “private members club which admits visitors”. However, as you can imagine the green fees are of a premium price (approximately 400€ for 18 holes). Although with that said, if golfing is your passion – this would be an unforgettable experience.
They welcome visitors every day from 12-14 hrs. During the winter season, tee times are from 11:30-13:30 hrs. On weekends visitors tee times are from 12-13 hrs. The rest of the time is limited exclusively for members. In Christmas, Easter or August, the course is exclusively reserved for members and guests.
- Holes: 18
- Par: 71
- Total distance: 6390m
The Valderrama Clubhouse
The clubhouse and Valderrama restaurant it is reserved exclusively for members and guests, but the Spike bar is opened for visitors (just players). Check it out here.
