Now that it is not quite warm enough to spend the day on the beach (or, you are all beached out!), families are turning to the many beautiful parks in our area to spend the day. One such park is Parque La Paloma in Benalmedena. It’s about a 50 minute drive from us in Manilva but well worth it. The easiest way to find the park is to follow signs for Selwo Marina – the park is literally opposite the entrance.
There is a large lake with ducks, a small fenced in “zoo” area with deers, emus and other animals, several playgrounds, a large cafeteria and several smaller kiosks sellimg drinks and ice cream throughout the park. There is even children’s entertainment in many of the playgrounds. On the day of our visit, a juggler kept the kids entertained for a good 45 minutes.
The most endearing thing for me was the rabbits, chickens, cockerals and other birds that roam free throughout the park – it’s a real nature trail… The paths are smooth, great for cycling or roller blading and you can hire a “bike buggy” to ride around the park.
We took a picnic and spent a perfect afternoon there. There’s plenty of large trees to sit under if you want some shade. Although there were many other families doing the same as us, the park is so big, that there is plenty of room for everyone and you do not feel as if you are “sitting on top of each other”
A fabulous park, well worth a visit…. or two, we will certainly be back.
