This week’s property is a beautiful, south-facing villa with a private pool, for sale in the heart of the Costa del Sol. It a located in the quiet, residential area of San Diego, close to Sotogrande, San Roque Cádiz.
This villa is special because it is both stunning and practical. By that, I mean that a lot of attention has been paid to making this house not just a showpiece but a home for living in. Whilst boasting spectacular views across the Mediterranean Sea and over to Gibraltar and the North African Coastline, it also has some comforts that are hard to come by in this part of Spain.

Location – Sotogrande and Surrounding area
Take for example the area. It is located in a beautiful, quiet, spot – yet in minutes you can access Torreguadiaro with its beautiful beach and trendy tapas bars and restaurants.
In 5 minutes you can take a drive and find yourself in Sotogrande Marina with its beautiful boats, restaurants, bars, and cafés. If you are feeling adventurous, you can hire jet skis or take a boat ride. San Diego is also close to Pueblo Nuevo – a small town with local cafés, shops, and amenities. There are also numerous schools in the vicinity – one of the top international IB schools in Spain, Sotogrande International School is less than 10 minutes away. For keen travelers, San Diego is 25 minutes away from Gibraltar and its international airport and just over an hour from Malaga. The location couldn’t be better.
The large kitchen with its breakfast bar is very enticing. As a family person, I could see myself sitting at the breakfast bar, chatting with my kids and starting the day together. The kitchen also has direct access to a dining room. This room is ideal for more formal meals and small dinner parties. I absolutely love the fact that it opens up to an outdoor dining area and garden, so come Winter or Summer you still have lots of natural daylight, the option to eat al fresco or inside and you never have to give up the view. You can enjoy it whether inside or out.
The lounge is spacious and has a log burning stove. On those colder Winter evenings, I could see myself sat around the fire, looking out to the sea and drinking a delicious glass of Rioja red wine. A lovely area for family gatherings – you can all sit around and play board games or chat.
The underfloor heating throughout is a real luxury. The marble floors are cooling on hot Summer days but the underfloor heating is so very welcome on the colder days and takes the chill out of the marble. There is no need for rugs or carpets, no need for fluffy slippers – underfloor heating warms the home without causing any dryness in the air. And better still, the air source heat pump makes sure it doesn’t cost the earth to maintain. I am a big fan!
The courtyard gives one the feel of traditional Spain – the ideal spot to read a paper whilst eating some tapas – such as delicious local olives or fresh, home-produced, Casares cheese.
The garden is lush and welcoming with its immaculate green lawn. Just imagine, waking up first thing in the morning, taking a walk outside, watching the beautiful sunrise and soaking in the panoramic views…
