The summer is definitely here and we have the perfect place to go when the weather gets a bit hot!
Tarifa is a great day trip, an hour away from this area, the town and beautiful beaches are the perfect place to explore. However, during the height of summer the town itself can get a bit busy. To avoid all of the hustle and bustle, head to Hotel Dos Mares.
Hotel Dos Mares is located only minutes outside of the town of Tarifa but has slightly quieter beaches. The hotel has a chiringuito that is perfect for lunch, coffee or to shelter from the wind when it gets really strong. It also has its own windsurfing and kitesurfing school where you can get lessons or rent equipment. Dos Mares also has an equestrian school where you can enjoy a lovely ride along the beach on horseback.
When the wind is good, it is a great place to chill and lounge on the beach whilst watching the kite surfers and windsurfers around you. We definitely recommend checking the wind. The site WindGuru is super helpful for deciding the best day to go. If you’re interested in giving any of the watersports a go, make sure to check the weather first. If you’re a beginner, the best wind speeds are between 5 to 15 knots, for those more adventurous and experienced, anywhere up to 25 knots is ideal.
During this time of year, traffic can pile up in that direction and waiting in this heat is not fun. So make sure to head off early, have a functioning aircon and take lots of water!
