It’s Feria time, here in Manilva this week, a time to forget everything and let your hair down for a few days…the Spanish residents save all year for this week and it’s the highlight of every local teenager’s calender!! Be prepared for some late nights…or very early mornings!!!
This year’s feria runs from 5th – 9th August as, as always, is held in the fairground (where the Sunday market is also held). Everything is ready, lights up, attractions assembled, main marque constructed…Ok Let’s Party!!!
Just to note, although the fair is open tonight and the rides are cheaper…the “real” fair kicks off tomorrow.
Here’s the full programme so you won’t miss out on anything.
Wednesday 5th August
Children’s day – All rides are €1 (normal price is €2-€4 depending on ride) although no entertainment or lights on. Starts from 9pm
Thursday 6th August
11pm.- Official opening of the fair with the switching on of the light
11.30pm:- Opening speach by Spanish comedian José Moreno Hurtado
11.45 pm – Coronation of the Feria Queens in the main pavilion
Midnight – live music with the band Dynamic.
Friday 7th August
10pm – Performance by the Cristina Seguin Dance School.
11.30pm – Performance by the Ana Guerrero Municipal Dance School.
Midnight – live music with the band Dynamic
Saturday 8th August
Feria Parade through the streets of Manilva, Castillo and Sabinillas. Departs from the medical centre in Manilva at 5.30 pm, Castle in Castillo at 7pm and La Noria in Sabinillas around 8.30 pm (all times approximate!)
11.00pm Concert by the band Jarillo de Lata’.
Sunday 9th August
Final day of the fair so partying will go on until very late……
10.30 pm live music with the band Dynamic
10.30pm – Concert by the band ‘Tarifa Plana’.
Bear in mind that during feria week, many of the banks will be operate shorter hours as will many local companies and offices.
Remember as well that, following the excess of the fair, Monday August 10th is a local holiday (we’ll need it!! )
