Simulated Disaster Rescue in Manilva

A strange spectacle fell on Calle Mar in Manilva yesterday. Following the demolition of the old Town Hall (Shame, I thought it was quite a pretty building!!) a mock rescue was staged.

The scene was set up to be a collapsed building and a rescue was staged, the obvious aim to be to get anyone out who may be trapped. All Manilva’s emergency services took part, including firemen, Civil Protection officers, local police and professionals from GERCCMA – the worldwide association of specially trained disaster rescue personal and their team of rescue dogs.

The “event” was watch by dozens of local residents and the “trapped” persons were successfully rescued. It’s nice to know that, heaven forbid, should a disaster occur, we have a great team of professionals here in Manilva to come to our assistance.
