Last week, the Mayoress of Manilva and the sports minister for Manilva presented Manilva’s cycling club with a municipal subsidy to help buy uniforms and kits. Manilva’s cycling club will be competing in the vuelta a Andalucía championships – a four stage race over 4 days throughout Andalucia – and it is hoped that not only, they do well, but also that Manilva’s name will be recognszed throughout Andalucia. The race starts in Granada on 10th October and ends in Malaga on 13th.
Cycling is becoming more and more popular in this area as not only do we have the perfect climate (Well, maybe not in August!) but also the perfect terrine for both the avis mountain biker or the Sunday rider.
The stages to the vuelta a Andalucia race are:-
10th October : Stage 1: Riofrio (Loja, Granada). Two laps on a circuit of 35 k = 71.56 km.
11th October : Stage 2: Benamejí (Córdoba). 64.81 km.
12th October :Stage 3: La Roda de Andalucia (Seville). 63.86 km
13th October :Stage 4: Mollina “Route of the Flamingos and the Lagoons” (Málaga). 66.46 km.
If you happen to be in any of these areas on these dates, give our lads a cheer!!
