When we first moved to Manilva 10 years ago, Halloween wasn’t really celebrated, however it is now a bit part of the Spanish Fiestas calender. The shops are currently full of Halloween related products from costumes to cakes to decorations and party bags.
Many towns hold Halloween parties and Manilva is no exception. At the moment, I know of two parties but no doubt details of others will spring up in the next few days.
The first party is via the Manilva Foreign Residents Association and is being held in the Castle at Castillo de la Duquesa from 16.30 pm on 31st October.
An old ruined castle on a dark evening provides an excellent venue for this popular event. You (well at least the kids) are expected to dress up and there are prizes for the best costumes as well as music, children’s games, bouncy castle and much more. Here’s a pic from last year’s party.
The second party is being held at O’Callaghan’s bar in the square by Punta Almina on Friday November 1st from 6pm (so you can go to both)
There will be Karaoke, face painting, apple bobbing and nasty nibbles!! Adults are encouraged to dress up as well as there will be prizes for the best child’s costume, best parent’s costume and best grandparent’s costume! Also prizes for the best pumpkin,
