Easter week or Semana Santa in Spain is heaped in tradition. I’ll write more about the various parades and processions and their meanings later. In the meantime, I just wanted to tell you about another trip. The cultural delegation of Manilva has organised a trip to Malaga to see one of these very special processions. A trip has been organised every year for the past few years. This year, you will be able to see the “la procesión del Cautivo” – the procession of the captive., marking when Christ was captured before the crucifixion. This parade takes place on “Holy Monday” 25th March. Times are yet to be confirmed but the procession is always in the evening.
Cost of the trip is €7 per person which includes return coach travel.
It is not unusual for more than 25,000 people to follow this parade around the streets of Malaga city. Easter in Spain is worth seeing and if you can get to a larger city to see any of the processions then the spectacle is amazing…
