If you fancy a trip out this weekend, why not head inland to Gaucin. There is a craft market there this weekend, 2nd and 3rd June from 10am – 5.30pm. There will be various stalls selling gifts, wine and arts and craft all produced by local craftsman for Gaucin and surrounding areas.
This time of year is perfect for going inland as its not too hot so take the opportunity to visit some of the beautiful whitewashed villages of this area. Gaucin is about a 35 minute drive from the coast along a really picturesque route. Take your time and admire the scenery, watch the eagles sour across the hills and enjoy the solace. There are not normally too many cars on this road – the best route is to take the A377 from Manilva.
Once there, Gaucin has loads of restaurants and bars, many tucked away down side streets where you can enjoy a drink, a tapa or a menu del dia. La Fuente, La Fructuosa, El Lateral and Caballo Andaluz are just some that have been recommended to me. Having refreshed (the town square is also great for a drink) …..
then you really cannot leave without taking the walk through the village and up to the castle – the views are worth it believe me…
