No, not the whole market….. In a bid to
bring more visitors to the seafront area of Sabinillas during the winter months, Sabinillas Sunday market is moving to the Sabinillas Beach front area of Sabinillas during the winter months, Manilva’s Commerce Department has decided that some 50 stalls from the Sunday Market will be relocated to the Paseo Maritimo in Sabinillas.
This initiative, which will begin next Sunday, December 4, will see these stalls – predominantly antique and second-hand items – installed on the promenade in front of the La Noria complex where the Friday market is held. The remaining stallholders will continue to operate from the fairground as usual.
This move is in response to requests by local businesses, particularly bars, cafes and restaurants who saw a significant drop in visitors on Sundays when the market was moved to its present location at the fairground.
The new set up will run for a trial period every Sunday until May 27 2012 after which the situation will be reviewed.
The Town Hall has said that it will also provide attractions such as bouncy castles, trampolines, etc., along with other activities to entertain visitors to the “new” market.
Sounds like a good idea….
