The slow pace of Manilva

I have to comment on my colleagues blog of yesterday about the slow pace of life and the laid back attitude in Manilva. I live in Manilva and have done for the past 6 years and, while I love being away from all the hustle and bustle of Sabinillas, especially in August, I have to say that the “whenever” attitude drives me made at times!! It must have something to do with 16 years of working in central London!! This morning was one such occasion…. already running a little late, having been stopped by a neighbour as I got into the car, I came out of my urbanisation to get stuck behind a small road cleaning truck (well, more like a golf buggy to be honest!)  No worries, I thought, it’s only a short way to the main road then I can pass him,….. but …. the driver of the truck stopped in front of me, turned off the engine, got out of the cab and proceeded to chat to another gentleman who was passing on the pavement.  I gritted my teeth and waited a couple of minutes, then politely tooted my horn and explained that I needed to get to work. The truck driver simply waved at me and said “momentito” ! Some 5 minutes later he got back in the cab and drove off – only in Spain…
