I can’t believe that its San Juan night already…where has the year gone?!
Hope you are all ready for one of the biggest parties of the year – expect it to be standing room only on the Sabinillas promenade from about 10.30pm tonight.
Each year the effigy is built on the beach a few days before and would normally take on a different theme each year – well, they’ve either run out of ideas or just decided to be politically correct this year as, to be honest, it doesn’t really have a theme.
Having said that, it is still quite stunning and obviously, a lot of work has gone into it – almost seems a shame to set it alight.
Here is the timetable for this evening…
From 10.15pm until 11.45pm, there will be performance by the music group ‘Tentation” in Plaza Cali in front of the statue on the Promenade,
At 11.45pm, the new mayor of Manilva, Diego José Jiménez, will welcome everybody and then proceed to light the bonfire at midnight – This is the only part of any Spanish Fiesta that actually runs to time!!.
This will be followed by the firework display. This would normally be on the beach but they have before set the fireworks off a little further up – just outside La Noria
After the fireworks the band ‘Tentation’ continue their performance until well into the early hours.
