I’d like to tell you that we have different traditions and customs here in Spain, but, no, it’s pretty much the same here as the UK. Restaurants offer “romantic packages”, the stationers and card shops are full of Valentines day cards, heart shaped balloons and a variety of gifts.
Our local bookshop, The Bookshop, in Sabinillas has launched “Love week”. They have a huge range of valentines’s gifts including these home made heart shaped Belgium chocolates (yum!)
Even the most unromantic amongst us can’t escape – pop into the local Mercadonna and even here you are faced with Heart shaped cakes and perfume packages.
I must say, that they have a good scheme going at the local high school in Manilva. The 4th years have done a deal with the local florist and have ordered a large number of red roses. They are then taking orders from pupils whereby a rose is delivered to said recipient on Friday. All profits are going to a local charity.
Finally, if your other half hasn’t yet sorted Valentine’s day and you need to drop a hint, print off this leaflet below from the Albayt Spa in Estepona. They have several packages available.
