It was my son’s 12th birthday last weekend and I wanted to make him a cake. (Spanish birthday cakes tend to be more like a mousse and not the traditional sponge cakes that us Brits are used to) He is a big fan of Doctor Who, so my daughter and I searched the web for inspiration. We found several ideas from a tardis to a cyberman but as I only had a few hours to make it and decorate it, I needed something simpler. I wanted it to be a surprise so needed to get it done and hidden while he was at school on Friday morning. We decided on a Dalek cake. After a few near disasters as it was quite heavy and almost collapsed…. we finished it.
He absolutely loved it – well worth the effort – what do you think?
