Programme for “Culture Week” in Manilva

The department of Education and Culture has announced the programme for Manilva’s culture week which will take place between 23rd and 28th April

23rd April – Book Day

The day kicks off at 11am with poem reading at the  Consistorio Municipal bringing together the town’s pensioners and school children

This is followed at 8pm with  a piano and bassoon concert by Manuel Valero. This will be held in the Centro de Interpretación “Las Viñas (the hall above the wine musuem)

During the days of 23rd to 25th, there will be various concerts played at the schools in both Manilva and Sabinillas which will encourage the children to join in and have a go at various instruments.

24th April Homage to Alberti

A tribute to the poet, Gaditano, presented by the writer Felipe Alcaraz. This event will be held in Villa Matilde from 8pm.

Thurday 25th sees a monologue performed by the theatre company “La Trapería” . This will be held in the Centro de Interpretación “Las Viñas at 8pm.

Also on 25th, there will be a painting exhibition of works produced by the municpal art school. This will be in Villa Matilde from 6pm.

On Friday 26th, the “Asociación de amigos de la Cultura de Veléz- Málaga” will perform the popular romantic play “La Molinera y el Corregidor”. Again at the Centro de Interpretación “Las Viñas” at 8pm.

Saturday 27th – Day of the dance.

As part of the celebrations for the worldwide “día de la danza” (29th April), the pupils and teachers from the various dance schools in the area will perform various pieces covering a whole range of different dance styles including  Cha,cha,cha, Hip-Hop, Flamenco and Tango.

Sunday 28th -. To close cultural week, 2 films will be shown at the Centro de Interpretación “Las Viñas that all the family can enjoy. Firstly at 16.30, a children’s film followed by a family comedy at 19.00h.
