The local government really do look after us here…. not only does the Foreign residents association organise and invite us to countless events throughout the year, they also offer to teach us the lingo!!
The Foreign Residents Department have been offering Spanish lessons for foreign residents in Manilva for many years now. When we first moved here, 9 years ago, I joined these classes even though I already had a basic knowledge of Spanish. I found them extremely useful and they gave me a great start in grasping the language. Not only that, as a newcomer, they were a great way of making new friends…and not expensive either…
Lessons are available at a number of levels from beginners through to advanced and involve practical exercises and conversation for 2 hours a week from October through to May.
During the summer, they organise a more conversational based course as well.
The cost this year is 70€ per term for those registered on the padron and 100€ for those not registered. You get two lessons a week (one hour each) so that cost works out less than €3 a lesson. Try finding other Spanish lessons for that price!!
Lessons start on October 1 at the Edificio Usos Multiples, Calle Miguel Delibes, Sabinillas. You can register from September 4 at the Foreign Residents office in the Castle.
