Diamond Jubilee Street party Sabinillas

I was just beginning to think that there would be no Diamond Jubilee celebrations here in Sabinillas, when up pops an email from the Foreign residents association announcing exactly that……

The street party will take place tomorrow, Saturday 2nd June in Calle Rafael Alberti,  in front of Punta Almina in the area commonly known as “Albert Square” (we think due to the fact that there are 2 English bars and an Irish bar all situated on the same square..)

All proceeds from the event are going to the animals in need charity in La linea – a very worthy cause. The event kicks off at 12. There will be stalls selling cakes, books , arts & crafts ect and a bouncy castle and face painting for the kids..

At 2:00 pm there will be an animal show with prizes – not sure what this entails but I’m sure it will be fun – maybe we’ll find a Spanish Pudsey!!

Finally at 4:00 pm there is a princes and princesses themed fancy dress competition for the children with prizes for the best.

I’ve lived in Spain for 9 years and have fully embraced its culture and traditions but it doesn’t mean I have forgotten my British heritage and the Diamond Jubilee is definitely something to celebrate… so got out the union jacks and the bunting and come along on Saturday.

For more information on this event, you can contact the Foreign Residents Office  on 952 893 548 or with Animal in Need 697 984 021.
