The Gardens of the Alcazar palace (Palace of the Christian Kings) in Cordoba are really beautiful. Every night at 10pm, there is a light, sound and water show. It is free entry but you need to reserve a place as they only allow a limited number of people for each show. You can reserve online (but only 3 days in advance!) or via any tourist information centre in Cordoba.
The tour begins in the garden adjacent to the entrance where the history of the Alcazar and Cordoba is projected onto the back of the building – commentary is only in Spanish though!!
You then proceed around the gardens where the fountains and water features are lit by a myriad of colours, in time with musical accompaniment.
The historical commentary continues through speaker discretely placed throughout the gardens. The show was advertised as lasting one and a half hours but, in reality, was only about 50 minutes but it was well worth the visit.
Put it on your “things to do” list if you’re visiting Cordoba
