Another Friday lunchtime and another chiringuito to visit…… This time it was Almijara Chiringuito Duquesa. It is located on the “unbuilt” bit of the paseo between Sabinillas and Duquesa, just a 2 minute walk way from Urbanisations Marina de la Duquesa and Marina Real
It is certainly easier to get there on foot than by car. Park the car in Sabinillas or Duquesa then take a stroll along the paseo. We went around 2.45pm and it was still busy which is always a good sign.
We ordered our standard Agua con gas con lima then prawn pil pil (another Friday lunchtime tradition) and half portions (media raciones) of Calamares and abedejo (Cod) and of course, no lunch is complete without a mixed salad. The Almijara serves the salad in small, medium or large portions so you can order as much as you need for your party.
The service was a little slow in my opinion but it really didn’t matter, we were quite happy sitting, enjoying the breeze and the view.
When the food arrived the prawn pil pil was sizzling as it should be with big chunks of chilli and garlic. The cod and calamares was perfectly cooked and delicious. Prices were about average for most chirringuitos in the area.
Overall a very satisfying and filling lunch, needless to say, I didn’t want much dinner that night!!
