We went out with a friend the other evening and she introduced me to a fabulous little gem tucked away in Estepona old town. Esquina del Arte is located on the corner (esquina is corner in Spanish!) of Calle Villa, just 3 streets back from the seafront. I can’t recommend this tapas bar / restaurant enough.
There are tables and chairs outside with sun umbrellas and lovely rustic bar area inside. We chose to sit inside as there was still a slight chill in the air (well, for us residents anyway..) The bar area was quite busy so they showed us though to the new restaurant area in the back, “we only want tapas” we said, “no problem at all” was the response. The restaurant is stunning, quite small, only 10 or so tables and really tastefully decorated. The talking point is the far wall where a fish tank runs along the whole of the bottom of the wall with the water feeding the tank running down the wall.
Onto the food… amazing.. some of the best and imaginative tapas I have ever eaten. We chose several different ones..although all of us plumped for the goats cheese and cranberry. Prawns wrapped in filo pastry ,deep fried and served with a chilli dip, Camembert & strawberry encased in pastry, tiny pasties made with seasoned pigs cheeks all absolutely delicious. You would expect to pay more for this quality but no, not really. Most tapas were 2€ each with raciones at 8 -10€ – about the same as you would anywhere else
Without I doubt we will be going back for another visit
