A few weeks ago, several people from, shall we say, “the older generation” of Manilva, met in the town hall to relive some of their memories of Manilva in past years. The meeting was with a writer who is collating the memories and experiences of the elders of the province of Malaga , which will be reflected in a book to be edited Malaga Provincial Council.
The writer is visiting different locations throughout Malaga, to complete an extensive overview of our grandparents lives in rural Malaga and the evolution and changes that have taken place……there’s certainly been a few changes in Sabinillas, Manilva and Duquesa in the past 20 years, let alone the past 50!! I think Manilva’s streets were built for horses, not cars!!
The elders of Manilva were delighted to participate in the exercise and to relive and teach us about the customs and traditions of yesteryear.
Some traditions and customs still continue now yet many will have disappeared never to return… which is a shame but we all have to move on with progress I suppose.
I look forward to the publication of the book.
